Fuck You Kids!

1985

———————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

Celebrity and corporations are all part of the same country club.  It has always been “okay” to sell crap to children.  Just walk down the cereal aisle  at a conventional grocery.

We market to children through  trusted characters like Doctor Heathcliff Huxtable    Hey kids!  Eat our trainloads of empty calories made from trainloads of cheap commodities and chemicals.   It is sooooooooooooooo good!

And of course, if Bill Cosby thinks it is good – it must be so.

If it is okay to sell bullshit “cereal”  to children, it is also okay to jeopardize their water and air.  It is all the same mindset:  “catch me if you can” -ism.

A poem – child safe world

Toxic sludge
terrorist ALERTS
flashing images:
bad times and
end times. What has this world become?

When will we learn?
A child safe world
is safe for us all.

Happy Birthday Dad

September 2, 2010

My  apologies for departing from this blog’s usual theme of   Marcellus exploitation.  But it is a special day for me.

My father would have turned ninety today. (He passed on in 1981).  Everybody loved him.

This is one of my poems about dad:

Dad Wore Hats

Not when he should have.

On a cold bright day
he would call out
where is your hat?
while the wind played
in his hair.

Nor the way he should have.

It was always
crunched atop his head
by a nephew or daughter
running around our backyard
at a picnic.

Nor what he should have.

Into the dewy night
the adults would sing
heads touching in harmony
dad smoking a Chesterfield
wearing a bonnet.
